Bloom Into You is an interesting twist on the typical yuri novel. When it starts out, if you're at all a fan of the yuri genre, you know exactly where it's headed. Except you don't. Instead of the typical buildup or abrupt confession that's immediately reciprocated, Yuu doesn't feel anything. Most of the manga is set in the awkward position of having to work with someone who loves you, when you don't love them back. Nanami (girl who loves Yuu) is also really awkward about it as well. She even tells Yuu that it's alright if she doesn't love her, as long as she can basically act like they're together. It's weird, but I love it. It's a new, more realistic yuri story that isn't just an excuse to be all lovey-dovey. I highly recommend at least checking out this first volume!
As a fan of yuri, i really enjoyed reading this first volume. It's neither fluff nor ecchi, but a slice-of-life story that is light on the drama and easy to read. The writing is decent, the characters are likable, and i really enjoyed the art style. It's no mystery where the story is going, but i'm very much looking forward to watching the romance continue to develop in the next two volumes. I would recommend this to anybody who likes romantic yuri.
I've read a lot of yuri and this is easily one of the best. The art is wonderful. The writing is really good. And our leads are some of the best I've ever read in a manga. Just them entering into some kind of relationship early on makes it more interesting than most romances that seem content to beat around the bush for %70 percent of the story.
Bloom Into You presents an interesting view of relationships. It remains interesting despite a lack of physical tension present in much of today's romance manga, and unlike many in the yuri genre, brings the social impact of social lesbian relationships into play.
Different set up than the typical story. I'm enjoying it. Somehow there's a giddy feeling inside when reading this even though it's one sided in the beginning.
It's a solid story with a good romance and likeable characters, but the way the translation seems to randomly bold and emphasize words is really annoying at times. At least one word seems to be bolded per bubble/box, and for the most part they never add anything but frustration to the reading experience. But other than that, this is one of the best yuri manga I've read.
I liked the story and I do plan to keep reading it but there was this kind of pushy, forced vibe to it.
Love the characters and the story, it's so cute. I can't wait for the other books to come out to purchase them!
