I have been dealing with depression and PTSD for years and this was the first workbook I purchased and I'm glad I did. The guided exercises helps to provide clarity to the often emotional, muddled thinking that comes with major depression. I highly recommend this particular workbook for that reason. It helped me work through specific events and habitual thinking in a structured manner.

I really like this workbook. I often suggest it to client's to enhance the work we are doing in individual therapy. I use quite a bit of ACT therapy and this book is a great supplement for clients to use at home.

I'm still working my way through this. My counselor highly recommended using this to help learn better ways of coping with stressors. It's very easy to read, very informative, explains the traps people tend to get themselves into and has exercises to reinforce the information they're presenting. I've been recommending it to other friends who are struggling.

This book is the first one I have come across that explores the idea that depression may not need to be treated with medication. Being a life-long "sufferer" of depression, I have read numerous books, seen several different doctors, and have tried several medications.The authors point out that most doctors simply try to throw medication at depression thinking that will be the only thing that helps, while never actually addressing the underlying cause. They also point out that some depression is quite normal, being a normal human reaction to sad and tragic events. For once, someone points out that wearing rose-colored glasses may not be the only "normal" way to go through life, as others would have you think. Rather than thinking of depression as some sort of disease, it can be thought as something quite useful,The book comes with a disk that has electronic copies of worksheets you can print out and use.Truthfully, I never even bothered to try one of the worksheets because I simply don't have the luxury of free time to work through items, but simply reading the theories put forth was very helpful.

This book will help you develop a "life worth living?" This insulting phrase is repeated again and again and shows a real lack of compassion for those wishing to accept or overcome a serious illness. The idea that a(n even severely) depressed person's life is not worth living is hurtful and dangerous. I put the book down.

This is an excellent workbook for people trying to work on changing the way they think about being depressed.

The hardest part of the rating was deciding between 4 stars and 5 stars. This book covers a lot of ground: fertilizing, pest control, diseases, different types of grass, mowing. The description of different grass species is nice, the trouble shooting guide for pests and fungi is even better. All in all it's an excellent primer, but you'll want to supplement it with more specific information on particular topics of interest.I found the references to cool-season and warm-season grasses a little confusing, especially for St. Augustinegrass. That grass is described near the end of the book as an adaptation: a cool-season grass found in the southern US. (The book earlier states the southern US is the home to warm-season grasses, while cool-season grasses are found in the northern US). Before that, I was surprised to find that I only need to mow my lawn in the summer, not the spring or fall (because I live in the southern US, and therefore have a warm-season grass). If that description is accurate, summer is 8 or 9 months long, and the other seasons only last about 1 month each. Other refrerences on the internet call St. Augustinegrass a warm-season grass, so I'm still not sure which it is, but I guess I can tell when it needs to be mowed without looking in a book.

As a first time lawn owner for an 18 year old lawn, I looked at this book and one other one which I think was called "The lawncare bible". My perception was that the "bible" was much more in depth and technical than I wanted to know. The "Scotts Lawns: Your Guide..." proved an easy and fast read - but with plenty of pictures to also make it fun to read. This book covered all the basics I needed to know about making my troubled lawn look much better. It also showed all the weed problems (which I had a few) and the solutions to fix them. I now know almost all of the simple "secrets" that make for a great looking lawn. Hint: Its all about the basics, of which this book makes vividly clear and easy to follow.

We bought a brand new house last year with an acre of land and had no idea how to take care of the freshly laid lawn. A year of trial and error and the lawn is covered in weeds and missing patches. I just started reading this book and am already very impressed. It has simple steps and is written so clearly that I, someone who killed a lawn, feel comfortable starting over. If you want an easy to follow book with wonderful hints this is your book. I cannot wait to start fixing our lawn!

The book is quite solid, well written & illustrated. No qualms there.However, Amazon sells both the 1st & 2nd edition for the same price -- but makes no mention of there being a 2nd edition here. This is the FIRST edition, get the second instead. Do a search for "Scotts Lawn".Also, as someone else mentions, this book (1st ed) is an updated version of the Ortho book on Lawns.Again, the book is solid, but look for the 2007 2nd edition.

Very helpful to someone who just moved into an area where deer are a problem. At first I skipped the first chapter(s) on deer behavior - I thought, "Who cares? Just get to the plant lists!" But later I went back and read the section on deer behavior, and it was VERY helpful. If you learn to think like a deer, it helps to figure out how to keep them out of your yard!

I bought the older version of this book and used it for several years. When I saw the revised version I thought I would get a copy. The revised copy does not have the light requirements of the listed deer-resistant plants. The older copy does have the light requirements which is very helpful. Other than that, it is a good reference book. NOTE: A lot of the info is the same as the older version but there is some new information added.Recommend this book, especially if you are new to dealing with deer.

Interesting to know about how deer live, react to different foods, grasses, and what they really need to survive their lives.

This is a great book that covers everything you could ever want to know about deer and deer behavior. Understanding behavior and preferences is a big help in determining what steps to take to prevent deer damage. I love to see deer and don't want to hurt them but I don't want them destroying my landscape. Highly recommended.

Very good comprehensive and more than basic compendium. Have researched and consulted on deer for years and find this book, mostly right regarding deer behavior and very right regarding damage management.

Good read. Very easy to follow. I learned some good tips in this book that I am eager to try out.

Daughter loves it, but only time will tell if it works

Good Book to help deerproof your garden - just remember that deer, like any other creature will sometimes eat anything - we've had them chomp on our solar dragonfly lights!
