As yet I have not been disappointed in any books from this author. Virtually all of the "Dog's Purpose" group so far, have brought me to tears. That isn't exactly a bad thing but it does tend to slow down the reading. That said, I would not trade one second of my reading time for ANY other activity. BTW, I recommend these books to everyone, even people I don't know.
Purchased for my granddaughter's ninth birthday. She had already read Molly's Story and Bailey's Story ... so I expected her to love this one as well. She hesitated diving into it ... I think Ellie just didn't have the cute, cuddly look like the other two. But after she read it ... she declared it the best of all three!
This book is so cute . I love the way it is written in Ellie's point of view very different from a humans view
Bought as a gift for my daughter. I never read it myself, but she really enjoys "A Dog's Purpose Puppy Tale" collection by W. Bruce Cameron. She has other books from the same collection. I would buy more when they come available.
If I had read this before I read the first book A Dog's Purpose, I would have given it a five. So maybe I would give this latest book Elllie's Storyy a four and a half. Cameron reads a dogs thoughts to weave a tale that makes you go from laughing out loud to crying in each chapter. Well, maybe not every chapter but close to it. Read it!
I loved this book. I think this would make a great movie. Search and Rescue digs need more attention. I have recommended this to many friends and they were excited to read it.
Ok, we all agree that Cameron anthropomorphicizes his dogs, but isn't that why we read his books? This one is another hit- written for YA, -actually adapted from "A Dog's Purpose" with suggested assignments in the back. You will love Ellie. She will make you regret every ball you didn't throw for your dog. Read it. Cry over it and then hug your dog.
This was truly a heart warming read. It was written for grade schoolers, but I found it most enjoyable. The thoughts and concerns of the rescue dog Ellie were so insightful. At the end was an excellent study guide for use by teachers or parents to engage children (and all of us!) in thoughtful discussion.
