I really enjoyed this book. As an aspiring entrepreneur it was very valuable to me. Kims honesty and willingness to share her story about her personal life, along with her career life is inspiring. i highly recommend it!

I finished this book in a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon....I couldn't put it down! Written with honesty and integrity. As a women in business, yet not having started my own company, I could relate to so many of her recounts. Kym's experiences have raised my level of awareness of some of the missteps women make in business - not listening to our intuition and second guessing what we know to be true. Not taking credit for the successes we are responsible for may many times lead to an opportunity for someone else to allow perception to be truth. I also hope it continues to bring to light the fact that the board room and c-suite are still not level playing fields for both sexes. I appreciate that she shared her story so that many other people can learn from Kym's experiences.

Kym tells a personal story that is compelling to read and opens your eyes to the hows and whys of her success. Gold Standard is an easy and enjoyable read that tells the life story of someone who really hit it big time. I really liked the personal aspect and the way Kym tells her life story from her heart. Its a rare insight of how she made it and the heart behind the gold!

Honest, witty, with no sugar-coating! This behind-the-scenes, tell-all is an inspirational book for anyone breaking into the fashion industry (or women entrepreneurs in general). Kym shows that vision, instinct, belief in your ideas, relationships, rigor, and good old-fashioned *smart*, hard-work can rocket your business to success. The book also addresses the age old question, "Can women really have it all?" You'll find out, but I won't give any spoilers. I definitely recommend it!

As someone who has been in the industry for more than 10 years I have to say I found this book very honest and infornative. It's not every day people will open up to that extent that Kym has and tell you how they got to where they are. They will purposely leave gaps in the hopes of not being surpassed. She doesn't. I feel this woman is a force to be reckoned with and I couldn't put this book down. I read it in an afternoon and with two babies that's not an easy task. Her journey documented through this book made me see that heck yes I can do it too and she also helps you to see how to set up your business structure, who you need on your team, and most importantly that life goes on even if your outcome isn't what you wanted or expected. I learned that you are the architect of your life and that with perserverence anything is possible even when those closest to you disappoint.Kym Gold is truly an inspiration and I implore anyone who is interested in building a fashion business to read this again and again. What a great read!

McIntyre (A Society of Wolves) has collected material from government reports, journals, newspaper and magazine articles and traditional Native American stories to illustrate our attitude toward wolves over three centuries. This anthology includes pieces by James Audubon, Theodore Roosevelt, Ernest Thompson Seton and Aldo Leopold-tales of outlaw wolves, hunters and trappers. These tales and agency reports are gruesome reading. In the last 50 years, attitudes have changed; with the passage of the Endangered Species Act (1973), wolves began to make their way back. My wife and I purchased this early anthology of wolves when it was written by Yellowstone Wolf Project field biologist, Rick McIntyre. It's one of the most comprehensive compilations of wolves--fact, folklore and mythology. We wanted to own another copy of this very valuable and dateless collection and actually purchased another used copy from Amazon to give to new Yellowstone wolves friends from Texas. No one is more dedicated to the study of the natural habits of wolves in its environment than Rick.

All you have to do is look around on Youtube and social media and you will get a picture of those that want to eradicate the wolf, even in this day and age. Most are usually poorly educated and believe the reintroduction of wolves in the lower 48, is part of a giant conspiracy to end hunting. Their code is SSS Shoot Shovel and Shutup. Legal tags are ignored and local wildlife and fisheries officers are not enforcing the law. The wolves must be put back on the Federally Endangered Species list with severe consequences for poachers. Also basic ecology must be a requirement for a high school diploma, even in these states.

An extremely comprehensive history of American sentiment about the wolf. This book does an excellent job of covering the various aspects of changing legislation on the wolf at both the federal and state levels. It also thoroughly cites chants, essays, poems and treatises that map the varying American views about the wolf. Do not look for detailed biological information in this book, however, this is a study on human attitudes as they have affected the wolf. A good read for anyone interested in conservation, or the plight of the wolf in specific.

I would place Musashi-san's Book of the Five Rings on par with classical teachers like Sun Tzu, Laozi. His book lacks detail compared to some of the classics, but that is one of its strengths. He spends approximately 1/6th of the short book on the movements and tactics for sword-fighting, which may be of varying value to readers - depending on their interest on the subject.Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" places emphasis on large scale military operations; which lends itself to modern business (in the mind of the reader, and in many modern expositions on a domain-by-domain basis) - supply chains, market saturation, globalization, operational budgeting, etc., Musashi-san's "Way" is likewise applicable. Musashi-san focuses on large scale and small scale (individual) battle, offering useful comparisons and contrasts. For me, the individual focus was extremely insightful and personal. It may suit individuals who have situations of high responsibility or discretion (e.g., negotiations, debate, martial arts, software development), or cases where an individual does not have an abundance of resources or allies - and opportunity is gained through competition.The book is highly quotable, and I found myself reading this short <100 page book over a month's time because every few pages gave me something to think about, research, mull over, and discuss. Almost paradoxically, his vagueness and insistence that the reader practice, research, and train builds toward a thesis - "By learning one thing, one should know 10000 (myriads)."As a retired IT person and CIS college instructor - my lesson on any topic was not to memorize procedures or things easily looked up in technical references; but principles, how information flows, how to identify processes (and problems in them), to detect the presence of patterns, or put simply "How is this problem or system similar or different from others you've encountered. I wish I had known about this book sooner, as he does an excellent job demonstrating this approach to learning.

 Unfortunately I can't give a review on the content as the book I received is incomplete. Yes, every other page is blank. And because I took to long to get to reading it, I can't return it. At least it wasn't very expensive. You get what you pay for I guess.

Reading Musashi is a right of passage. The man was a complete badass, on a level many of us will only ever dream of.That said, he excelled in killing people, not writing books, and this reads exactly how you would expect a world-renowned killer would write. The passages and subjects are scattered and disjointed, and at times make very little sense. Sometimes hes describing precise sword movements and battle tactics, next hes talking about extremely esoteric ideas in a rambling, stream-of-consciousness sort of way.I'd say what you get out of the book is entirely subjective. It's been said that this is the Japanese version of Sun Tzu's "The Art of War." All Japanese executives have read it. Martial arts masters have read it. Historical scholars and enthusiasts as well. If you have the ability to take 18th century martial arts tactics and apply it to modern day situations, you could gain a great deal from this book. If you read it literally... well you may just have a laugh and write it off as the crazy mutterings of an old man.Either way its a cheaply priced, reasonably-sized book, and this is one of the better translations out there. Definitely add it to your collection and give it a go. Plus you'll be able to brag that you've read Musashi, a man who died undefeated with over 60 confirmed kills in martial combat! Total badassery!

It is rather a hard won and practical philosophy, almost a code of conduct and a way of viewing the world that is not bound by esoteric nor abstract thinking. Instead, his writing is about a gradual awakening and clarity of thought that his many and varied experiences led him to. Despite being written by a rampant, unwashed and bewilderingly intelligent swordsman with an odd smattering of formal education, his ability to elucidate the intricacies of strategy and apply it to all aspects of life are staggering and surprisingly relevant even now. You do not have to be a fan of Japan, Samurai, the Edo period, eastern philosophy or any other genre you may want to file this book under in order to appreciate it.
