In full disclosure, I have been so uniformly impressed by Morgan Daimler’s work in the past that I pre-ordered this book. I was not disappointed. This book is a brief reference to Irish deities that is separated into three sections: Tuatha Dé Danaan Gods, Goddesses and then the deities who are not related to the Tuatha Dé Danaan. It is set up in an encyclopedic fashion but does not pretend to be an exhaustive reference. At the same time, there are deities included who are not the ‘usual suspects’, deities who are not, perhaps as generally well known. True to her past performance, the author makes a point of providing a suggested bibliography for further information. This is a very accessible, easy read with very good information and I foresee this being a well-used reference for quick information for such things as ritual writing and memory refreshment.

Once again, Morgan Daimler does not disappoint. This prolific author's most recent work, "Gods and Goddesses of Ireland, A Guide to Irish Deities," provides a much-needed, concise reference to the ancient Celtic gods. It is unusual in that for many, the concise descriptions provided will give the information needed, but just as useful as the descriptions are the extensive bibliographies cited which provides a substantial diet for those who hunger to perform serious independent research.This is a useful work which belongs in the hands of anyone who wants to know about the Irish Pantheon, from the simply curious to the dedicated researcher.

I am a fan of Morgan Daimler. I have most of her books. This book sits on my desk and I use it. I love that she supply's references which are great jumping points for further research. I find her extremely knowledgeable, easily readable and accurate. This book is a great reference to use alongside the actual myths and I truly appreciate.

This is a great , concise introduction to the Gods of old Ireland, and their worship today. Morgan Daimler writes in a very approachable manner, and makes the subject real for us. This is not the first book of hers that I have read, nor will it be the last. Get this!

This is the most enlightening book on the Irish Gods and Goddesses that I have read to date. It was also very enjoyable and easy to understand. I only wish there was a way to learn how to properly pronounce the names.

I have recently received this book and can truly say it is an awesome purchase. I have been passionate about Turkish food ever since I lived in Istanbul and have taught myself a whole range of dishes. I have an entire shelf full of Turkish cookery books and it's really difficult now to find recipes which I don't yet have and which are practical. This checks those boxes. The photography is awesome and the recipes are delicious. There are a lot of practical, delicious recipes here which are not found in other Turkish cookery books. One little niggle is that sometimes the featured dish is shown in conjunction either with another dish, which is not identified, or there are some beautifully-photographed 2-page photos but the dish featured in those doesn't seem to be identified either, but all in all I would say this is an excellent purchase for those who either know a little about Turkish food and are looking for a beautiful book which serves a very practical purpose or the complete beginner who is interested to find out. The photography is really beautiful and definitely serves the purpose of making the food come right off the plate and making you think you just have to make this dish because you want it to turn out exactly as pictured and eat it. Which I suppose is the very purpose of food photography. This book would be a good purchase along with another excellent new title, 'Jerusalem' by Ottolenghi, or the small but incredibly practical 'Turkish Cooking' by Oliphant, which has been in constant use in my kitchen since it's purchase in Istanbul. I thoroughly recommend this book.

This gorgeous ode to Istanbul’s timeless cuisine recalls Rebecca Seal’s “Istanbul” in its photo-heavy layout and simple, straightforward mezze that can be assembled at a moment’s notice. From the embossed cover to the vibrant street scenes and mouthwatering food, this is a visual delight. Predictably, mezze star prominently, particularly yogurt-based dips and salads, pide, sigara boregi, along with some stellar stuffed vegetables, kebabs, lamb and seafood. Sweets include apricots with clotted cream and walnuts, a pistachio baklava, orange and filo cake, and a Turkish bread and apple pudding. A gorgeous illustrated glossary rounds out the book. The next best thing to a plane ticket to Turkey, the city is as much a star as the food. I loved that every photo and restaurant mentioned also has a address listed, so you could theoretically use this as a guidebook on your next trip to Istanbul!

This book is a wonderful compilation of foods you actually find in Istanbul, one of the best international cities anyone can visit for Middle Eastern and Mediterranean foods. The recipes are easy to follow and totally authentic. I have visited Istanbul many times, and just reading this book made my mouth water. Kudos to the author.

Had only tried a few Turkish recipes before I got this book, and was really crossing my fingers that some of the classics I had eaten in restaurants (such as borek and gozleme) were in here.Luckily they were, accompanied by many other delicious looking things that I can't wait to try out.One thing I love is that there's a lot of information about the ingredients, culture, etc. of Turkish cooking, and it's really helpful for someone who's not super familiar with this cuisine. Following the recommendations in the book, I was able to go out to an international food store and find the things I needed for these recipes really quickly, rather than aimlessly wandering the isles like I usually do.

I don't believe these recipes were tested. At all. If you know how to cook, you can probably adjust them so that they work. Great idea, poor follow through..

After visiting Istanbul, this book is such a joy. The recipes and images are equally delicious! Worth every penny!

Not being a connoisseur of luxury wristwatches I still appreciate their beauty and history. This catalog goes into great detail and provides me all the reading material I could want. In particular I liked the inclusion of prices and discovered the availability of a few "affordable" (sub $1K) lines which was a nice bonus. It's a thick volume with high-quality photographs presented in an informative structured, outline. Buy this catalog. It is better than the field. At least the movement source is listed. A better job should be done on which conglomerate currently owns which luxury watch brand.

An excellent survey of the major European watch manufactures and designers. The graphics are excellent. Very little discussion or writeups on the Asian manufacturers. As someone new to watch collecting I found it fascinating and well worth the modest cost. I loved looking at million dollar watches but I would also like to see writeups and comments on watches costing less than one thousand dollars. I will definitely buy next years edition. Amazon's service was excellent as we have come to expect.

Performs as expected.

I started as a watch collector back in January 2009. In the beginning it was quite confusing because I felt in love with all watches I saw. But since then I have sold a lot of various watches, and found my own line. After I bought the 2010 Wristwatch Annual, I enjoy my hobby even more. The book gives me a huge knowledge of what I need for understanding the market for watches. The book is full of beautiful photos of some of the Worlds most awesome timepieces and what's under the hood. After "chewing" my way through the book, I use it as reference book when I check prices at e.g. eBay and the like. Also the glossary part of the book is excellent. It describes in easy and well understanding terms all the strange words you will meet when reading description of watches. I can highly recommend this book - buy it... You will never regret it !

This book is a useful reference tool for pricing and a little history of most watch brands.
