I know there is some controversy around Tomberg within the Anthroposophical Society but I found this book contained some amazing insights into the Foundation Stone Meditation. It's obviously a book for Anthroposophists who are familiar with the work of Rudolf Steiner and it is one I would recommend for anyone interested in developing a deeper understanding of the Foundation Stone verses.

Valentin Tomberg's Foundation Stone Studies seem to be the first studies written on the subject of Rudolf Steiner's Foundation Stone Meditation. However, due to the controversies surrounding the author, this text was never properly published at the time, and never received the recognition it deserved.I had worked with the Foundation Stone Meditation regularly for close to a decade, and read the standard books written about it, when this text fell into my hands back in the late 1980's. It definitely made the difference that made a difference. New depths emerged. Rudolf Steiner's Foundation Stone was not only looked AT; it was looked THROUGH, like a lens or a window to other dimensions. Valentin Tomberg taught me an approach to meditative formulae in general and the Foundation Stone in particular that still bears rich fruit in 2010 - in ways that perhaps neither he nor Rudolf Steiner himself would have been able to fathom back in the days between the Great Wars, when their works appeared.Alexander Kieding, the Sophia Guild

my mom got the nuwave as their 20th wedding anniversary with dad. and gosh it was hard to find a decent cookbook for this device.glad I found this one. can't say it is perfect as some recipes feature grams and need to be converted. and no nutrition info too, but there is a whole lot recipes to choose from including dad's favorite hummus. so we are all happy with this cookbook so far.

It has a lot of good ideas, but it often lists ingredients in forms used in Great Britain- -both in amounts and ingredients listed. A puzzle to figure out.

I have a mathematics background along with an undergrad degree in business, so you understand I am not financially illiterate. This is the WORST financial text I've ever seen. The examples are often unclear, there is no in-depth explanation of key concepts. As other reviewers have noted, I learned more from YouTube and the rest of the internet. The examples that ARE provided are not step-by-step, detailed, or explanatory. They are straightforward, you figure out where the numbers came from, so the "examples" are more accurately described as additional problems with answer provided. You must reverse engineer and discover for yourself from where data was gleaned. It is literally the least understandable and followable text I've ever had (3 schools, Bachelor, 2 Masters)! These outdated editions exist and still are used apparently because nothing significant is changed in new editions except the price (according to other reviews and research). I would avoid this text like the plague and do the same for a course requiring it, if possible.

As other reviewers have noted, the book is a jumble. I can't find my way through chapters logically, let alone see the logical flow of the book as a whole. It claims to have electronic links to things like spreadsheets and videos...it does not. All the links are dead. The publisher's website promises tons of content, and there's virtually nothing, and what is there is just fluff, not of any real use.And finally, the book is not updated in any meaningful way since the 8th edition (I compared it in the library). Literally all they did was tweak the number in the problem section so you don't get the same answers. Every word of the text is verbatim, except for some very minor changes (they refer to different baseball players' salaries, or sales of expensive art auction items). So they published a "new" edition not cause there's new information, or to update the content in keeping with the 2008-present recession, or anything else of academic merit. The changes are basically cosmetic, in order to sell more books. Putting out a new edition was not just unnecessary, it was evil.As for the Kindle execution...first, no page numbers. All books of this sort need literal page numbers, so that kindle users can follow along with the rest of the class. then, they only let you use it on two devices. One of the beauties of Kindle books is that you can bounce from device to device; your phone, your iPad, your laptop, your desktop and home and work, your Kindle, the new Kindle you had to buy because the old one got stolen, the new Kindle you bought because the newer models just came out...you get my drift. NOT with this book! You're limited to two devices. TWO! Utterly ridiculous.In sum, DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. If you have to, plead to get a used copy of the 8th edition, you'll learn every bit as much. What might be missing can be found on the web. Teachers...if you must assign it to students, at least have the courtesy to let students us an older edition, since the 8th is exactly the same book.

Pray, pray, pray that your professor doesn't select this book. My main issue is that each chapter has a series of problems to test you on the concepts found in that chapter. However, the book only provides you with a few answers to these problems. For example, in my current chapter, there are 38 end of chapter problems. Answers to only 6 of them are provided in the answer key. Spend 40 minutes working out the answer to problem 15? Great, you have NO idea whether you got it right because it's not one of the 6 answers provided. I have spent a lot of time dealing with McGraw-Hill on whether a solutions key actually exists and even they're not sure.Also, be forewarned if your professor is using Connect for this textbook because it will be a waste of your money to buy it used or rent as you'll need to purchase a seperate access key to Connect and you get the text in e form with the Connect key. Don't pay for it twice like I had to.

Purchased because it sounded like it came with Connect access. It does not. Without Connect, the book was no use to me so I had to return and purchase elsewhere.

Not my kinda textbook. In talking to my instructor, it seems that this book is the gold standard for intro finance texts, and if that's the case, it's too bad. I didn't feel I learned much from it. Almost zero worked problems within the chapters, yet they toss you into the deep end at the end of the chapter with the problem sets.Personally, I learn a lot by studying and working through examples and seeing worked-problem solutions. They provide some example problemshere and there but they're usually on the order of "you should check our answers for practice." Well, what if your answers are wrong?! I should add, the supplemental materials of the text are not very helpful (powerpoint slides/lecture outlines.) Just read the text, work whatever assigned problems your instructor gives you, and hope for the best on the tests. Thankfully our professor just gave multiple choice open-book tests so everyone got an A or B on every test.It is a pretty basic text. The authors explain things ok usually, but their writing style is borderline archaic and they often take the long route in explaining important concepts. Their discussion of bond pricing and TVM (time value of money) needs improvement. So does their discussion of present value of dividends, in which they take a very loopy numerical approach that is far too hard to understand - I got most of the test questions wrong on this topic. They also refer to Sarbanes-Oxley as "Sarbox" - nobody else calls it anything except SOX. I took Intermediate Accounting before I took Finance, and we used the Kieso, et al. textbook, which was pretty darned difficult but better than this text as far as explanations of TVM and other topics.I am alarmed to see that a new copy of this book sold for over $200. It has over 20 chapters but they are all short and the information within this book is definitely not worth such a high pricetag. Actually, I rented this book for the course because the cost was far more than I was willing to pay.

About the Author

Katherine & Jay Wolf are parents, artists, communicators, and survivors. What an inspiring story of hope in God. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the testimony of Jay and Katherine Wolf in Hope Heals. I had seen bits and pieces of their story on other blogs or postings, and that made me excited to read this book. Written from both of their perspectives, I loved getting to know their feelings and struggles and triumphs surrounding the major life changes that happened when Katherine had the stroke. I was encouraged by their faith and ministered to by their words.I received this book from Book Look Bloggers in exchange for an honest review.

This is not a story you can read and put back on the shelf to catch dust. Jay and Katherine don't sugar coat the reality of their suffering and emotions, but rather share, profoundly, how God worked all of what was meant to kill Katherine and destroy their lives for good, how Hope anchored them through the many unfathomable storms, and how selfless love can endure the worst of times. This is a story you will want to share and it will undoubtedly equip you for the sufferings you may face, arming you with hope and a sense that your suffering will not be wasted. Buy it now, don't think twice.

I downloaded this book over the holiday and once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. I appreciate your honesty and show weakness in writing the raw and human emotions that we, as believers, are many times expected to be immune to by those watching, especially among the non-believers, just waiting to point the finger and scream, "Ha! I knew it was all fake."Our neighbor fell and landed on the base of his head about 18 months ago and has been recovering from a TBI. His wife has been carrying this burden alone and ignored our pleas to help. Neighbor relations have been deteriorating as we are helpless to come to her aid with her husband. We have been slowly watching as she becomes more and more withdrawn and angry at any one - especially my children who cross over into her yard when they play. This book is so timely in helping me to dig deeper and push further towards supernatural grace towards our neighbors who are suffering in ways I would never fully be able to understand without reading this book. Hope does heal. And I will continue to hope and pray for our neighbor, his continued recovery and for his wife who endures so much of the burden alone.

I have recommended this book to others (even before I finished it!!). What a truly wonderful look at how hope and faith in God help us through even the hardest of physical and emotional times. Katherine and Jay Wolf are incredible people with unending faith. They included so many wonderful Biblical quotes in their book. I only wish that everyone on earth realized that hope does not always get us what we want but His plan will always provide and lead to healing.The difficult path in life that Katherine lived changed what she thought her life would be like and created an inspirational path for others to follow!It's a must read...for those with faith and especially for those who are without.

Don't think this book is only for the physically challenged. I am a healthy 74 Yr old retired nurse. I wish I had this book years ago. It will give you insight into how a disabled person feels; and how the caregiver feels. This realization will help you understand how you can better help & pray for those in need.I like the way the book is written. It is in the first person, but written by Jay & Katherine, in separate parts as they experienced the same events. Don't be put off thinking these people want to tell you how perfect & spiritual they are. They are honest about their feelings and about how they had to surrender to God's working in their lives. They give God the glory through it all. I read this book quickly, highlighting so many meaningful statements. You don't have to be suffering yourself to benefit from this book. We all have our challenges. I enjoyed and profited from reading it. I intend to read it again. I still have so much to learn about our amazing God.

They wrote it out and made a movie, too.I think you'll find words..words that describe what you cannot explain in your own trial. For this reason I gave this book four stars. I found words in other books before this one, but if you are early to suffering and trusting God in trial, then read this. Those of us who've lived for years with heartache will also find peace for our souls. God needs to renew our faith; read the story.

A well written book that shares the ups and downs of dealing with a medical crisis from the perspective of her husband and herself. The love of family, friends and God kept this courageous woman going through years of surgeries and rehab. Very inspirational to anyone who has struggled with health problems. Also, there is a happy family event which takes place at the end of the book which I did not expect.
